Our Story

The Northern California / Nevada District of the Assemblies of God purchased the current property at 3015 Farm District Road in November 2005. The five-acre parcel included a 2,600-square-foot home and a 900-plus-square-foot three-car garage. In the Spring of 2006, Rev. Duane Jenner and his wife Sandy moved to Fernley to help launch Crosswinds Church.

A Tuesday night Bible Study began in July, and the first Sunday service was held on September 17, 2006. Crosswinds Assembly in Sparks, Nevada supported the church that first year with volunteers, while ministry teams formed from within the church. As the church outgrew the garage, they began meeting in the city’s middle school in June of 2008, returning to the Farm District location in May of 2010.

In 2014, the first phase of a new building and paved parking lot was completed. Additional parking, sidewalks, and lighting were added in the summer of 2021. Throughout the first 15 years of the church’s history, God has blessed Crosswinds and allowed the church to minister to many and honor Him faithfully.

Pastor Duane and Sandy retired from the Lead Pastor role in December 2021. Associate Pastor Bob and Linda Bridges served as interim pastors while the search for the next Lead Pastor began.

In May 2022, Pastor Stephen and Cassie Rose were called to serve as Lead Pastors. During their time at Crosswinds, they saw significant growth, particularly with young families and in the kids and youth ministries. They faithfully led the church until November 2024, when personal circumstances led them to return to Illinois.

In April 2025, Wes and Carrie Sheley accepted the assignment as the new Lead Pastors of Crosswinds Church. We are excited for the growth and the direction God is leading Crosswinds in this new season. We would love for you to be a part of this journey with us!
